Eden X. Redman
Step into a World Where Science and Art Collide.
Hello, my name is Eden X. Redman, and I am your guide at the crossroads of scientific innovation and artistic creativity.
I am currently working towards a MSc in Neuroscience at McGill University, equipped with an ever-growing arsenal of experience:
Academically, pursing deep learning across diverse disciplines, from Fine Art and Design (BA, '23) to Psychology (BSc, '18), and a Certificate in Science Research ('18) at the University of Alberta.
Professionally, demonstrating a keen entrepreneurial hunger, founding and scaling a neurotech-focused non-profit organization, making tangible impacts in my community.
Personally, possessing an iron-strong work ethic, forged by growing up on a farm in rural Saskatchewan.
My journey is not just about pushing the boundaries of our understanding of the human brain and mind, but to then transform these novel insights into accessible and practical tools.
Let's embark on this adventure together, weaving ideas, discoveries, and innovations into the malleable fabric of reality!
My Domains of Interest and Angles of Attack
Science
Neuroscience | Translational Neurotechnology
I have an extensive background in basic and clinical laboratory research across psychology, neuroscience, physiology, and psychiatry.
Within the domain of neurotechnology I gravitate towards the following areas:
Creating and validating low-cost devices suitable for day-to-day use in health and learning
Developing novel and impactful tools for basic and clinical research
Translating disconnected academic research findings into practical innovations
Art
Sparking Meaningful Dialogue | Scientific Communication
Claiming no degree of artistic excellence, I have avidly engaged with the visual arts as far back as my earliest memories. Over many years I have thoughtfully explored both the figurative and the abstract, working extensively in the mediums of watercolor, acrylic, oil, charcoal, clay, wood, and the written word. In recent years my work has been included in a number of notable galleries.
My artistic works often explore the following topics:
The nature of consciousness, reality, and self
Variance in sensation and perception underpinned by culture and language
Conveying scientific principles in an approachable fashion
Community Building
Interdisciplinary Collaboration | Systems Level Thinking
Over the past several years I have worked tirelessly to forge an Alberta-wide community around neurotechnology that span academia, medicine, and industry.
I am always on the lookout for opportunities to expand my knowledge base and enjoy finding unique ways to apply my skills in the scientific and artistic communities, often while building bridges between these typically disparate domains!
Dive Deeper into my Mind
This site is as much for me, as it is for you.
Engaging with in subject matter from a very wide range of disciplines that traverse all divisions of society, I rely on strict organizational procedures to maintain my efficiency, clarity of vision, and to allow for synergies between different initiatives.
Think of this site as a working directory of my brain, with that in mind... here is the architecture.
