My goal as an instructor through the E4C's ArtStart after-school program was to create a fun learning environment full of positive connections.  Teaching visual art to 'at-risk' children 5-8 I based my lesson plan around age appropriate discussions of social and emotional functioning.

"ArtStart’s after-school classes, range from visual art, drama, dance, to music. The class sizes are small, maxing out at 13 students, and volunteer instructors are paired together, to ensure the children get the individual attention they need". - E4C
